Community, Health, Wellness and Dedication From the Beginning

With a degree in Communication Arts and Marketing, and growing up in the Washington D.C. area, my career began in administrative and secretarial jobs for businesses or groups such as NBC-TV, American Association of University Professors, and Paralyzed Veterans of America Corporate Headquarters. Prior to getting married, I worked with my Dad, a Public Relations man in Washington, D.C. who had clients such as American Heart Association, American Dental Association, and American Medical Association. I gained a lot of experience and knowledge about health policies and connecting them to the community.

After a couple of years working for my father, I worked for May Stores Shopping Centers as a Promotion Director for Parkington Shopping Mall in Arlington, VA and also a year later  for Enfield Square Mall in Enfield, Connecticut. I created all the promotional and community events such as the Fireworks display and Art Shows. I took care of the Merchants’ budget and held Merchant Association meetings to discuss events and planning as well as the annual budget.

In 2011 at Hospice Support Care of Fredericksburg, VA, I was a Children's Grief Coordinator responsible for children’s activities  for children. The culmination of my work there was a yearly big weekend event called Camp Rainbow. I coordinated a small army of volunteers to help with meals, activities and shelter necessary for 12 children and 24 adult chaperones. It was held on a farm that had land for outdoor games and a big barn where all indoor activities took place. On the last day we held a ceremony for our loved ones in their memory. The general consensus was, that Camp Rainbow that year was one of the best anyone had experienced.

During my career as a stay at home mom, I volunteered at the schools throughout both my sons' school years. I tutored students and served various committees to raise funds and oversee school activities for the children and parents.

My serious interest in health and wellness started around the time my Dad was hospitalized in 2000. I began studying various aspects of nutrition and food as well as physical fitness (personal trainer and yoga instructor for beginners, intermediates and seniors).    Eventually I found out about the Duke Integrative Medicine Health Coaching program and I signed up for what became a unique and rewarding experience. My Culinary Coach certification was initially a pilot program through Harvard Lifestyle Medicine Institute and is now a staple of their curriculum. I am also certified in 200 hours of Yoga Teacher Training with a focus on Adaptive and Therapeutic Yoga.

Today, I continue to partner with those seeking integrative approaches to improvements in their wellness. My services encompasses training, education, experience, research and more to help clients achieve their best life using principles that I have developed over many years of discovery and success for my clients’ personal growth and positive results. This allows me to give my clients valuable guidance and tools, support, self-discovery, and direction in a sanctified space just for them. My personal journey of financial loss, family illness and deaths, re-establishing and igniting my professional life, personal health challenges that doctors could not help resolve (had to seek alternatives to heal myself), relocating from the east coast to Texas, marital issues - has given me many life lessons as well.
